Many us have heard Fannie Lou Hamer’s saying, “Sick and tired of being sick and tired.” As a voting, women’s and civil rights activist, Hamer was locked up, beaten, and abused. But she perservered.
Her powerful words have resonated with me for much of my life as I sought to understand and viscerally sense why I have been tired. After reading Tricia Hersey’s book, I decided to rest more and set stern boundaries.
