Sleep has been elusive
I try to chase
The subconscious
The unconscious
It slips by/
Dreams remembered
Leave fuzzy
Remnants
Of their imprints/
I catch you when I can
Resting with my eyes closed
Tapping in to my ancestors’
Wisdom/
My heart hears them
And responds by slowing
Its pace
Slow
Leisurely
I feel the tender honeyed release
And succumb to slumber/
My soul expands in and out
Above and below
And around
To touch the Cosmos
Again
